Schrader Center Hosts Recycle Your Art Show & Sale

WHEELING, W.Va. (April 7, 2009)- -Oglebay Institute invites the public to a Recycle Your Art Show and Sale from noon- 4 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at the Schrader Environmental Education Center in Oglebay.

Guests can browse through antique and modern artwork that has been donated for re-sale and find new treasures for their home or office. Light refreshments will be served at this informal, family event, and children in attendance can create unique EcoArt projects with Schrader Center staff members. Proceeds from the sale support environmental education programs at Oglebay Institute.

“Recycling reaches a new level with this exciting new fundraising event that includes a wide variety of artworks left forgotten in basements and attics,” Schrader Center director Eriks Janelsins said. “It’s a win-win situation. We help donors make their art truly sustainable by finding good homes for their forgotten treasures, and they, in turn, help raise money to support environmental education.”

A regional showcase for “Green Architecture” and environmental awareness, the Schrader Center is constructed from 97 percent recycled materials. The dynamic programming that takes place inside and outside the Center is as equally impressive as the building and creates opportunities to celebrate and study the natural world. Each year thousands of people from preschoolers through adults participate in hands-on classes, school programs, camping experiences, lectures and public events.
