SPRING CLASSES BEGIN MARCH 23 AT OGLEBAY INSTITUTE
WHEELING, W.Va. (March 2, 2009)- - Oglebay Institute's spring classes begin the week of March 23 and include something for everyone to enjoy. Art, crafts, dance, fitness, theater, nature and more make up the course offerings this spring.
Plenty of old favorites return to the schedule as well as several new titles. Classes are available for children, teens and adults. Most classes meet for eight weeks, but many are available as one or two day workshops.
Classes are held at various Oglebay Institute facilities including the Stifel Fine Arts Center and the School of Dance, located on National Road in Wheeling, the Schrader Environmental Education Center and the Glass Museum, located in Oglebay Park and Towngate Theatre, 2118 Market St., Wheeling.
Some classes on the spring schedule include:
Drawing for Dummies (adults)- Ever feel shy about taking an art class? Then this class is for you. Enjoy a fun and creative class for the beginner in drawing
Watercolor Success (adults)- Learn the basics of watercolor in an easy, low stress way. This simple method ensures almost instant success by learning a few simple application secrets.
Pottery –Classes are available at a variety of times for ages 10 and up, and all skill levels are welcome.
Picassos’ Intermediate (ages 6-9)- Work with clay, paper and other fun materials in the course while learning about incredible artists throughout history.
Finding the “Write” Audience (high school-adult)- Develop one’s writing skills whether in the form of a blog, journal or book. Explore publishing opportunities to attract an appreciative audience.
Italian for Beginners (adult)- Learn the language and enjoy the culture of Italy.
Film Acting (ages 10-13)- Learn the skills necessary to act for the camera. Each student receives a DVD of their work at the end of the class.
Belly Dancing- (adult)- Learn this ancient art form that is a fun way to firm and tone muscles and develop coordination.
Yoga/Pilates (adult)- Beginning, intermediate and advanced classes are available.
Ballet, jazz, tap, tumble and acrobat- Classes for all ages and skill levels are available.
These are just a few of the classes available at Oglebay Institute, which provides opportunities for everyone to try a new hobby or explore their creativity.
