STIFEL STUDENTS PERFORM RECITAL
WHEELING, W.Va. (February 27, 2009)- - Piano students of Oglebay Institute teachers William and Barbara Hines presented a recital Sunday, March 1 at the Stifel Fine Arts Center in Wheeling. The program featured a variety of solos and duets.
Elementary students performing music by Jane Smisor Bastien included Juliana Kepple, Avery Lee, Elizabeth Murrin, Emily Coram, Kylie Pell, Mallory Griffith, Mallory Marconi, John Rose, Aidan Grubler, Lakin Snider, Nico Paolina and Ally Carson.
Playing music from The Music Tree Series, edited by Frances Clark, were Rebekah and Sarah Jones, Maggie Aulick, Erin Hannahs, Mia Edmundson, Hope Ruza, Lexie Kosanovic, Amelia Jones and Kyle Zelenitz.
A variety of 20th century American and Canadian composers were featured in performances by Breana Bardos, Lydia Andlinger, Abby Wharton, Katie Crum, Anjali Gupta, Matthew Long and Colin Harshbarger.
Performing pieces by the Russian composer Dmitri Kabalevsky were Ashton Kepple, Alexa Harshbarger and Dario Paolina. Stefano Paolina presented a minuet by James Hook, and Madeleine Hall performed a sonatina movement by Theodore Latour.
Christine Fanning played Beethoven, and Erin Given performed one of Enrique Granados’ Poetic Waltzes. Bailey Warfield presented a Chopin prelude, and Mark Glass, a Dvorak Slavonic Dance. The program concluded with Khatchaturian’s Toccata performed by Adrian Kehayas. |
