MOUNTAIN MOON COFFEEHOUSE REACHES MILESTONE
WHEELING, W.Va. (November 17, 2009)- -Oglebay Institute’s Mountain Moon Coffeehouse continues at 8 p.m. December 5 at the Stifel Fine Arts Center with a performance by Uncle Eddie & Robin.
Now in its 24th season, this popular concert series has staged 225 shows. It began in 1986 and was held for 13 seasons at the A.B. Brooks Nature Center in Oglebay. The coffeehouse series moved to its current location at the Stifel Fine Arts Center when the Brooks building was razed to build the Schrader Environmental Education Center. The series is organized and staffed by volunteers associated with the Schrader Center and proceeds from the concerts support environmental education.
Mountain Moon performances take place monthly from November – April. 2009-2010 shows are as follows:
December 5 Uncle Eddie & Robin
January 2 Cabin Fever String Band
February 6 The Marsh Wheeling String Band & the Elk Creek Family Band
March 6 Zeke Hutchison & Tom Hampton
April 3 Wills Creek Bluegrass Band
All shows begin at 8 p.m. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling the Schrader Center at 304.242.6855.
Another program that takes place at the Schrader Center in conjunction with the coffeehouse is a monthly acoustic Old Time/Bluegrass jam. The jam is an informal sharing of songs and tunes by local musicians. Everyone is welcome to participate or listen. There is no cost to attend. Jam sessions take place the second Tuesday of each month. Upcoming dates include: December 8, January 12, February 9, March 9, April 13, May 11, June 8, July 13, August 10.
