NEW YEAR BRINGS OPPORTUNITIES FOR SELF-IMPROVEMENT:
WINTER CLASSES BEGIN JAN.11 AT OGLEBAY INSTITUTE
WHEELING, W.Va. (December 21, 2009)- - Warm up your spirit this winter- enroll in a class at Oglebay Institute. Winter classes in art, crafts, dance, music, theatre, nature, fitness and more begin the week of January 11.
Plenty of old favorites return to the schedule as well as several new titles. Classes are available for children, teens and adults. Most classes meet for eight weeks, but many are available as one or two day workshops.
Affordable and fun for all ages, classes are held at various Oglebay Institute facilities including the Stifel Fine Arts Center and the School of Dance, located on National Road in Wheeling, the Schrader Environmental Education Center and the Glass Museum, located in Oglebay Park and Towngate Theatre, 2118 Market St., Wheeling.
Visual arts classes provide an opportunity for everyone to explore their creativity. Topics include drawing, oil painting, watercolor, pottery, stained glass, knitting, quilting and more.
There's plenty for kids, too! Filmmaking, pottery and painting are just a few of the visual arts classes for the younger members of the family. Kids can also enjoy the exciting world of theater through Saturday acting classes at Towngate Theatre. Nature pre-school programs are back at the Schrader Environmental Education Center on select Fridays from January through March for ages 2-4 with an adult.
Oglebay Institute's School of Dance is once again offering classes in the classics like ballet, Pointe, jazz and tap. Modern dance and lyrical dance are also available along with hip-hop dance, ballroom dance, square dance, folk dance and belly dance. Acrobat and tumbling are also on the fall schedule.
Classes are available for all ages and skill level. So whether you are an experienced dancer or just want to try something new, you are sure to be impressed by the variety of styles and quality of instruction at Oglebay Institute.
Fitness classes are on the fall schedule as well and include karate, Pilates, yoga and Zumba. The popular glass paperweight and glass bead making are offered again at the Glass Museum. Other topics this winter include Italian for beginners, Li’l Sprouts Music Together and piano. Private instruction in dance, voice and theatre are also available.
