A+: Visual Arts

The heart of Oglebay Institute's Visual Arts Department is the historic Stifel Fine Arts Center on National Road in Wheeling. An important resource for teachers and students, Oglebay Institute’s visual arts curriculum allows students to develop their creative potential through education and example.

Oglebay Institute art instructors teach more than just scissors and glue. Fine art programs teach students to understand and apply the principles of design, communicate expressive ideas and explore how history and culture influence art. Hands-on classes and field trips are designed to meet curriculum guidelines and enhance classroom instruction, and they are an integral part of Oglebay Institute’s long-standing tradition of artistic excellence.
