A+: Performing Arts

Providing opportunities for people to engage in performing arts is an integral part of the Oglebay Institute mission. Operating out of the Stifel Fine Arts Center and Towngate Theatre and Cinema, the performing arts department brings enjoyment and inspiration to students of all ages.

The performing arts curriculum fosters creativity and spontaneity, promotes cooperation and working together for a common goal and enhances problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Students learn to be active listeners and how to effectively use spoken, written and visual language to communicate to audiences. Classes and performances promote self-confidence and lay a foundation for lifelong participation in the arts.
