Students can get a hands-on look at Ohio Valley history at the Museums of Oglebay Institute. The elegant 1846 Mansion Museum and the glittering Glass Museum are perfect places for students to explore the past through artifacts, photos and interactive history and heritage programs.

Examining Wheeling’s history from political, economic and cultural perspectives, Museums’ programs focus on economic development, architecture and the daily lives and adventures of Wheeling residents from the era of George Washington to the times of the Titanic. Programs are conducted by museum professionals and are designed to enhance classroom instruction in history, geography, economics and citizenship.

White House Garden White House Garden Guided tour of the traveling exhibit tracing the development of the White House gardens & grounds from the 1790s to the present. Thematic sections address presidents and first ladies, presidential children, White House gardeners and historical plantings, and the Rose Garden, East Garden and Children’s Garden. Photographs, drawings, maps and correspondence convey the aesthetic, social, political, and historical significance of this landscape. Available Aug 2-Sept 28, 2008.
